Betsy really liked Monica's charts.
Meredith brought Sean into the office and everyone oohed and ahhed over the adorable baby.
Introductions: Name, Interests in the DTF, Goals and Inspired Ideas --
Sarah; been involved with DTF since beginning with RESULTS; NGOs mobilize grassroots that have social values but not living values; wants to move issue forward in organization.
Monica; from NC Triangle Group; involved with DTF as a result of group leader mentioning it; wanted to increase diversity within own NC group and across the board, not only ethnic but other communities as well.
Betsy; got involved two years ago as a result of Meredith and others at IC proposed question and had a wonderful dialogue; being Latina wanted to make sure that we are reaching out to people we are trying to serve, to let them know they have a voice in Congress.
Diane; a pilot city, is adding members to group and feels heavily invested in DTF.
Lorna; organizational development; diversity is part of area of interest; trained diversity facilitator and is currently conducting diversity dialogue series at Smithsonian, working with 800 employees; has worked with over 600 employees over a 3-year period; has been very successful. Passion for many years. Interest in DTF is as a volunteer to help steer and provide support services as an advisor for the group and for individuals.
Pam works in RESULTS office; originally from NY; works with grants in office; DTF piqued interest. Excited to see what can be done in writing grants.
Jose came here because wife works at RESULTS and thinks it's very interesting; has worked in Africa for 18 months and wants to know how RESULTS works; interested in comparing ideas and work.
Agenda:
Pilot Cities Project explanation for new members. Form available to document best practices.
Diane: finished training with my Muslim group. Started out with six, ended up with eight members. Am merging the Muslim group with existing group.
Sarah will talk to Meredith about adding immigration reform to domestic campaigns.
Monica: What kind of support and materials do you need for January? Training materials is helpful. Nothing in Spanish. That is something I would love to get some help from the group on. Any other materials in Spanish at this point would be helpful: the brochure, health issues. Going to start outreach to Hispanic and African/African-American communities.
Betsy: didn't get response from RESULTS Mexico. Sarah will try to find out what's going on with them.
Monica: will ask Hector for help.
Which materials are our priority? Separate call possible to try to go over email requests for translations and go through all materials used for outreach?
On translation point team: Betsy, Monica, Ken
Discussion about diversity anti-oppression training and organizational diversity.
Lorna and Sarah have gone through survey results and structured workshop and training design.
Lorna: basis of survey would go into writing a grant proposal to support diversity outreach; first part of survey dealt with ranking of four items -- materials in other languages, training, support, contact plan. Support first; diversity training was second; languages third; wanted support from expert fourth. Diversity training program is looking at diversity and creating alliances in order to create power equity and support. Learning curve built into strategies for increasing diversity. Strategies in action plan and diversity training are key. Survey results indicate diversity is a priority area and suitable for a grant proposal. For Pilot Cities -- keep on supporting each other because isolation is a diversity issue. Need three-day session on developing strategies for diversity outreach.
Monica: create a training forum through phone calls or emails?
Lorna: certain types of learning well through webinars. Perhaps DTF could work on visible diversities through webinars but more in-depth training would require face-to-face training.
Ken: regional conference training.
Lorna: pre-conference training (two-days, fee-based)
Diane: could Lorna do a webinar for us?
Lorna: basic design okay; could work with Sarah and do that; identify resources.
Ken: RESULTS has technology resources
Lorna: does PowerPoint and can create presentation and will run by some colleagues for feedback
Ken: we could easily make it available to people, Lorna on phone talking people through it.
Lorna: has a colleague in mind for webinar.
Betsy: could we do this in collaboration with other groups?
Monica: target populations are not only ethnic diversity but also income diversity.
Lorna: economic diversity is one of the nine diversities.
Jesus: a generalized session would make more sense than a regional training.
Sarah: let's build our capacity sequencially; let's link diversity training with strategic planning;
webinar audience to be DTF. Asking Board members to join on would be helpful.
RCs are having a meeting Dec. 6. There is a 30-minute opportunity for DTF to interact with RCs.
Douglas -- successes and updates on two pilot cities to catch everyone up to progress
Sarah -- can Diane share on call? Yes.
Douglas -- discussion with RCs to gain enthusiasm and support; please allow 5 to 10 minutes for questions.
Sarah -- Diane; DTF mission and goal; questions between RCs and DTF
Ken -- let folks know what the possibilities are; what we're looking for; what DTF will bring to that; opportunities for RCs for leaders to encourage group leaders to attend diversity training.

Great notes Diane, thanks a lot. I just wanted to mention that I live in Durham, North Carolina. Our group's name is 'RESULTS NC Triangle' because our group is comprised of members living in Durham but also in a near by city called Chapel Hill :)
Sorry for my bad english. Thank you so much for your good post. Your post helped me in my college assignment, If you can provide me more details please email me.
