Faith in Action (Breakfast and June 24 Events): Jos
- Monday am breakfast in hotel, asking partners to come and build collaboration. Asking people to RSVP (but technically not required). Exciting level of participation
- Sammie doing great outreach with local Islamic community in WA state
- June 24 Prayer Vigil on Health Reform, 4-8 pm @ Freedom Plaza in DC. Faith leaders and health reform advocates are gearing up for two big rallies on June 24 designed to show grassroots support for meaningful health reform in 2009. At 4:00 pm ET on June 24 at Freedom Plaza, the Interfaith Service of Witness and Prayer will take place bringing prominent faith leaders, members of Congress, and advocates together in solidarity around health reform. Speakers include Dr. James Forbes, The Healing of the Nation Foundation, Pastor Emeritus, Riverside Church NYC; Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism; and Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed, Islam Society of North America and National Director of Office of Interfaith & Community Alliances. Go to http://www.faithfulreform.org/ and www.webelievetogether.org for more information.
- Following the Interfaith Service, the Lighting the Night Health Care Equity Event health care equity activists, members of Congress, tri-caucus leaders, interfaith leaders, community members and those who care about a just and equitable healthcare system are gathering in Freedom Plaza to speak out against health care inequality and demand equity through health care reform. RESULTS worked on health care equity issues in 2008 and urges you to show your support for ending health care disparities by attending this event as well.
